Its been almost three months now since I have moved from US to India. As a habit, I keep on observing lot of things around me and try to analyse them. Some of these things make me happy , some sad and some of them just amuse me. There is no doubt that there have been huge improvements in India in the past four years especially in the metropolitan cities. People are predicting that if India continues to grow at this rate then it will soon be world power number 3.
Now let me start with the things which make me sad so that I can talk about happy things at the end to have a happy ending ;). Since I stay near Delhi so I be talking mainly about Delhi and near by areas

* Crazy traffic : I used to drive in US a lot . I tried driving here and couldn’t handle the crazy traffic and have given up for now. People( including educated ones) don’t have patience at all. Nobody wants to wait. They get so much fun in honking for no reason , probably to have a musical drive. May be they want to make sure that their horns are working properly. If some sensible person tries to be nice and doesn’t honk, he will be abused by ppl behind him and they would say things like ” Abbe dhakkan hai kya ? Chal aage”( Are you a fool. Move fast !!). When I looked at the following video in US, I thought it an over exaggeration but its not in places like Delhi and NCR.

Hi, i do agree with most of the things you have mentioned above except unprofessional work culture. We can’t generalise it for all the cities…I come from NCR but i work in an MNC in Bangalore. In most of the big companies here, you don’t need to play up to your boss though it is essential to maintain cordial atmosphere. Nobody notices if you are going for a coffee too often as long as you complete your work effectively. Though few years back, when i talked to my friends working in IT sector in Delhi and NCR, they expressed the same issues as mentioned by you…

Hi,
That was a nice article.. it successfully potrays how a person who returns to india after a long gap feels.. some points did make a good laugh and some did force us to think.. and lastly the message was clear that we all love India and care about it

the traffic in india is messy, but hey u can get a driver there. can u afford that in US.
so enjoy ur royal life
regarding india becoming singapore, that is hard to imagine. singapore has some of the toughest rules in place, no wonder they can keep the city reasonably clean. such things can’t simply be enforced in india.

Jeseem , I agree with your singapore point ..However i dint mean singapore in a very strict sense …But at this point if I am given a choice b/w driving myself in US and having a driver here , I would definitely choose the former…

I know there is alot thatz not appropiate or is incorrect in here, but we will make it better in the words of karan(rang de basanti)”politics mein jayenge, police mein bharti honge hum badlege ise! isse badanla hoga hi :-)”.Just the feel of being an Indian shoots me on the top of this world “Jai Hind”.
And sweet girls AMEN to your words of organising the Olympics,i can promise they are not far.
I would prefer if i can see a post FROM YOU stating what are your plans to make our INDIA better in coming future and the only super power

I think you are very optimistic. Believe me only some cities in India is growing, not the whole country. Have you ever visited any remote town or village to see the condition of what you call Modern India ? Analysing only Delhi is not enough to declare that we will become world’s power number 3
